How long does the beginner class last and how often do classes run?
Our beginner group training programme has 8 lessons per term, with each lesson lasting 1.5 hours.
What's the age range for participants in the beginner fencing class?
We believe it’s never too early or too late to start fencing! We warmly welcome all aspiring fencers to discover this exciting sport in Singapore. Our beginner classes are designed to be inclusive and effective for everyone, with groups tailored by age:
5-7 years old
8-11 years old
12 years old and up (including teenagers and adults)
What is the cost of a beginner fencing class in Singapore?
Curious about fencing? Try out the sport with our trial class for just SG$39. Enjoy a 1.5-hour introductory session (or 1 hour for our 5-7 year olds’ class) before you commit to a full beginner course.
If you’re ready to dive in, our popular beginner group training programme is SG$315 for an 8-lesson term, with each session lasting 1.5 hours.
For those who prefer personalised attention, our private 1-on-1 fencing training is SG$900 for 10 sessions, with each session lasting 45 minutes.
Do I need any prior fencing experience to join the beginner class?
Absolutely not! Our beginner programme in Singapore is specifically designed for individuals with no prior fencing experience. Our expert coaches will guide you through all the fundamentals from scratch, ensuring a comfortable and effective learning experience.
What is the class structure like?
Our beginner fencing class lasts for 1.5 hours. It is designed to be dynamic and engaging, helping you build a strong foundation in the sport:
- 30 minutes of physical activities: We kick off each session with invigorating warm-ups, anaerobic drills, and fun fencing-related games to get your body ready and energised.
- 30 minutes of fencing-related activities: This segment focuses on essential fencing techniques, including footwork drills, bladework practice, wall target exercises, and personalised 1-on-1 coaching.
- 30 minutes of sparring bouts: Here’s where the excitement happens! Fencers will pit their skills against their peers, applying what they’ve learned in actual fencing bouts in a safe and supervised environment.
Where are your beginner classes held in Singapore?
We hold all our fencing lessons, including beginner classes, individual classes, and sparring sessions at Yeo’s Building – 2 Telok Blangah Street 31, Singapore 108942. The nearest MRT station (Telok Blangah or Labrador Park) is a 10-minute walk away.
Do I need to purchase any fencing equipment?
No, you don’t need to. We provide all the necessary fencing gear for our students until you’re comfortable and ready to get your own. We’re committed to making fencing accessible and affordable for everyone. So, just come as you are, and we’ll equip you for an exciting journey into the world of fencing!
What weapon (foil, epee, or sabre) will I learn in the beginner class?
Our beginner class will focus on introducing you to the techniques and strategies specific to epee fencing, which is known for its emphasis on precision and full-body target area. We do not teach Foil or Sabre.
What should I wear or bring to the fencing lesson?
For your first fencing class, please come dressed in comfortable athletic attire (e.g., t-shirt and track pants/shorts) and sports shoes suitable for indoor activity. Due to Singapore’s hot weather, we recommend bringing a full water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session.
What happens after I complete the beginner programme?
Upon completion of the beginner programme, you’ll have a solid foundation in fencing fundamentals. From here, your path can diverge based on your goals and aspirations:
